Development of High Performance PIN-Silicon Detector and Its Application in Radioactive Beam Physical Experiment

In view of the great demand for large-area silicon detectors in domestic nuclear physics experiments, a type 300-μm-thick high-performance square detector with large active area 50 mm×50 mm by using overprinting technology is developed Institute Modern Physics Chinese Academy Sciences. Based on this technology, SiO<sub>2</sub> contamination caused photolithography and corrosion processes effectively reduced. The has an excellent performance yield up to 80%. Under –45 V (depletion voltage) bias, leakage current less than 40 nA. tested three-component α radioactive source. energy resolution (<i>σ</i>) about 45 keV 5-MeV particles. Used as deposition(Δ<i>E</i>) detector, also measuring reaction products 250 MeV/u <sup>11</sup>C beams impinging carbon target. results show that charge number single 0.17 isotope, which similar measured same available from market. With average deposition three used, isotope reaches better value 0.11. resolution, C B isotopes are clearly distinguished, meeting requirements particle identification intermediate- high-energy beam experiments.
